Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
Wine Name: Montepulciano d’Abruzzo
Winery: Montali
Region: Abruzzo, Italy
Denomination: Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOP
Varietal: 100% Montepulciano
Tasting Notes:
This wine has an intense red color with violet reflections. Aromas of blackberry, blueberry, and ripe cherry are layered with hints of cinnamon. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and enveloping, with present tannins that suggest excellent aging potential.
Winemaking Process:
Harvested by hand in early October, the grapes are cooled at 4°C for 16 hours to enhance aromatic expression. Fermentation and aging occur in cement tanks, where the wine matures for 9 months before bottling, followed by 6 additional months of bottle aging.
Perfect For:
This Montepulciano pairs well with traditional Abruzzese dishes like chitarra pasta with meatballs, grilled meats, and aged Pecorino cheese.
