Nero d'Avola
Wine Name: Nero d'Avola
Winery: Tenuta Bastonaca
Region: Vittoria, Southeastern Sicily, Italy
Denomination: DOC Sicilia
Varietal: 100% Nero d’Avola
Tasting Notes:
This Nero d’Avola has a vivid, intense ruby red color with hints of violet. The nose opens with aromas of cherry and plum, accented by well-balanced spicy undertones. On the palate, it is full, warm, and elegant, with a persistent finish and vibrant tannins.
Winemaking Process:
Grapes are hand-harvested in early October, followed by manual selection and destemming. The wine spends 8 days on the skins to enhance its color and depth, then undergoes malolactic fermentation in stainless steel. Aging includes 4 months in steel vats, followed by a minimum of 4 months in the bottle to achieve balance and complexity.
Perfect For:
A fine match for savory red meats, baked wild black pork from Nebrodi, game dishes, and aged Ragusa DOP cheese.
