Raboso del Piave
Wine Name: Raboso del Piave
Winery: Casa Roma
Region: San Polo di Piave, Veneto, Italy
Denomination: Piave DOC
Varietal: 100% Raboso Piave
Tasting Notes:
This wine presents a deep ruby red color with garnet reflections. The nose is rich with aromas of sour cherry, black cherry, and hints of violet and plum. On the palate, it is robust and austere, with a distinct acidity and pronounced tannins, making it a wine of great character and aging potential.
Winemaking Process:
The grapes are harvested in November, with a maceration period of 25 days in open vats to extract maximum flavor and tannins. The wine is then aged in large oak barrels for 24 months, followed by 8 months of bottle refinement before release. This lengthy aging process helps to soften the wine’s inherent acidity and develop its complex structure.
Perfect For:
Perfect to pair with hearty, flavorful dishes such as grilled red meats, game, or aged cheeses. Its powerful structure also makes it a great choice for traditional Venetian dishes.
